imageHi, Ian Smith here. I love to cook, and I love to eat good food. I’ve been cooking (and eating) now for a number of years. As a kid in SoCal, I used to make a mess of my mother’s kitchen, concocting what I thought was great.  There have been periods when I didn’t touch a knife for months, maybe years, but I’ve picked up the pace (and the knife!), and now I whip up dishes constantly. I have a full-time day job, but at night, on weekends and in my free time, I love to cook, eat great food, dine at great restaurants, and travel.

I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the world quite a bit, and as part of my education, I studied for a year each in Germany and Italy. These have been great experiences, and have helped shaped who I am, my tastes, my interests, etc.

I cook something almost every night. I love it. Over the years, I have acquired a great appreciation for international cuisines — it’s really fueled my passion for cooking and eating good things. I love to try different dishes, from elegantly sublime but understated, to outright bold and spicy. I’m not afraid to be adventurous.

Tired of writing. Having a frozen pizza tonight.

    Hello, Mr.Smith.
    What a wonderful blog you have! Lots of interesting recipes!
    You got many nice Indonesian recipes. I am planning to try the Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Ginger Sauce (hopefully I can do it on Monday, which is my off day). I have tasted many versions of Indonesian roasted pork but I have never tried this one. The recipe has a hint of Peranakan and Bataknese cooking. I cannot wait to try it. 😀

      Hari, thank you very much for your kind comments. As you can probably guess, Indonesian cuisine is one of my favorites! Any Indonesian cooking tips you can pass along are very much appreciated. Please let me know what you think of my roasted pork recipe — it is based on a few different versions, so I’m not sure what region can claim it!.

I love to cook, have had the fantastic opportunity to travel the world as well and am just fascinated by the foods from different cultures. You learn so much by way of food. Good for you.       Hi Mama Miyuki, I’m very flattered by your comments – thank you! Indonesian cuisine is one of the world’s best kept secrets (at least, in this area – maybe everyone else knows already), and I’m trying to expose the world to it; delicious, and truly world-class.

    Very impressive Ian. The first recipe I read was neapolitan tomato and pork soup..and the whole time I was reading it I knew I was going to make it. It is wonderful. Then moving on to the next recipe chicken with pearl onions!! I immediately pressed the follow button. Looking forward to cooking some of your recipes. Glad to have found your blog this morning. Nice.
